ABOUT US When did MEC Languages begin? MEC Languages was founded in Miami in April, 2002. MEC stands for Miami English Center, and started primarily as an English tutoring & translation center, but quickly grew into a full service language school offering multiple languages to corporate and individual clients. To date, we have taught thousands of students in our centers, in student’s homes and in hundreds of businesses around Florida. Our latest center is in Panama City, Panama. MEC started this site, FloridaSpanish.com, in response to the growing demand for Spanish classes throughout the state of Florida. What is MEC’s Philosophy? * MEC (FloridaSpanish) provides experienced, dynamic, reliable local tutors to coach students through the learning process. * MEC (FloridaSpanish) offers small-group & individual classes customized to your schedule. * MEC (FloridaSpanish) focuses on ‘real world’ conversation for work, travel and socializing. * MEC (FloridaSpanish) implements measurable goals for each student to reach, then challenges students to achieve those goals. How do MEC Private Classes compare to other Language Schools? Because of large overhead, most large ‘chain’ language schools charge clients $40+ per hour for private classes, then pay teachers less than $15/hour. At MEC, we believe in full disclosure. Our private classes start at $30 and we pay our teachers $20/hour. Since we pay our teachers more than other schools, we can hire selectively, and provide clients with the best tutors available.
